Our first 100-degree days have arrived, marking the beginning of a true—and very welcome—Texas summer. The garden has completed its seasonal shift into summer, transforming into a jungle of large, green-leaved okra, vining sweet potatoes covering entire beds and pathways, and the cheerful buzz of our newest garden additions: honey bees. What's Growing On At The Garden - June 2026
Garden Production and Donations The garden has experienced a wonderfully hot and wet beginning to summer! The plants are absolutely loving the warm days and abundance of moisture with fantastic potato, cucumber, and eggplant harvests. By the beginning of June, we harvested double the amount of potatoes from last year. A total of 182 pounds of Red LaSoda, Yukon gold, and Kennebec potatoes were dug out of the muddy soil and dried before heading off to our food pantry partners. We had so many...

What's Growing on at the Garden - April & May 2026
Garden Production and Donations We are excited to share with our community the wonderful spring the garden is having! The garden looks wonderful and is having a great production year. The garden planted over 1500 onions in January and have harvested over 150 pounds of onions so far. This is an increase of 100 lbs from last year.
